Although portions of Bohemia are burgeoning with industry, the hamlet's residential areas continue to thrive. Tree-lined neighborhoods feature mostly capes, ranches and colonials generously spaced apart.
Residents can enjoy recreational opportunities such as trout-fishing, horseback-riding, cross-country skiing and viewing wildlife at Connetquot River State Park. Neighboring the park is Bohemia County Park and the Bohemia Recreation Center.
Merchants occupy portions of Church Street and Smithtown Avenue, while other shopping and services are along Veterans Memorial Highway and Sunrise Highway. Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma is nearby.
Students attend the Connetquot School District. From midtown Manhattan, taking Exit 59 on the Long Island Expressway, it is approximately 50 miles to Bohemia, about a 65-minute drive.
