Marc Jacobs Spring 2015: Style and a big pink house

Marc Jacobs' Spring 2015 presentation at New York

(Credit: AP)

The inspiration:  Our hyped-up, supertech, militaristic world. Or so it seemed. At the start, all we had to go on was the BIG PINK HOUSE. It sat in the middle of the Park Avenue Armory, where Marc Jacobs held his show Thursday, like an oversized suburban home surrounded by lavender gravel and rows of seating covered in hot pink shag carpeting. Comfy, that.

The vibe:  Kitschy, cozy...

Christina Milian knows how to get around at New York Fashion Week -- the recording artist and all-around hottie has been spotted at Betsey Johnson, the Elle Runway Collection by Kohl’s and OK Magazine’s Eighth Annual NYFW Celebration -- and that was just on Wednesday. (Three different outfits, mind you.)

“You gotta move fast,” says Milian, laughing.

She and her sister, Liz, sat front...

The Blonds are very, very blonde

The downtownerati showed up in droves to hoot

Paris Hilton showed up to check out the latest fashions from The Blonds, and their show surely didn’t disappoint anyone who is a downtown diva, club kid, or style rebel with (or without) a cause -- and Paris, as we know, is pretty much all of those things combined.

The downtownerati showed up in droves to hoot and holler for the outrageous and fun gear, which was all inspired by Barbara Eden’s...

Betsey Johnson may be prepping to be a contestant on this season’s “Dancing With the Stars” -- which premieres Sept. 15 -- but she still had time to churn out a spirited collection of bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses and assorted party frocks, worn by men ... women ... drag queens ... a transgender model ... former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Camille Grammer ... and the crowd went wild!

Entitled...

Ralph Lauren may not walk on water, but he came pretty close Monday night.

The designer presented his new Polo line for women in an elaborate video projected on a five-story wall of water that shot up from the Lake in Central Park.

The models in the film -- and Lauren, who takes a bow at the end -- look like holograms and appeared to walk on water.

Hundreds of Ralph fans -- including...

Altuzarra's superbly sinister chic

The inspiration:  “Rosemary’s Baby,” from gingham-sweet beginnings to a flesh-baring leather fate. (The film’s lullaby, sung by Mia Farrow, made for a haunting soundtrack.) There’s also some “Barry Lyndon” influence (the vivid Stanley Kubrick period drama) thrown in for good measure.  (Hey, designer Joseph Altuzarra has a lot of titles on his Netflix queue.)

Alexander Wang's Spring 2015 collection: Sneaker style

The Alexander Wang Spring 2015 collection is modeled

(Credit: AP)

The inspiration:  The genial, energetic designer Alexander Wang has in past seasons given hints of what’s on his mind with his invites.  This one—a slab of black rubber—foreshadowed a line that’s all about…the sneaker.

The vibe:  Sporty, sporty, sporty.  Not that the models wore sneakers, mind you—they were perched atop spike heels. But the clothes themselves...

The inspiration:  Charlotte Rampling—delectable and devastatingly beautiful English actress (catch her in “Georgy Girl,” Woody Allen’s “Stardust Memories,” and Sidney Lumet’s “The Verdict “ with Paul Newman).

The vibe:  Whispers of the 1970s, in the swoosh of a flowing midi-length silk dress, a slit-high olive suede skirt, or slouchy silk trousers.  But it’s just...
