Today I met with Marguerite Snider, our Valentine's Day makeover contest winner. After a few hours of shopping and some guidance from personal fashion advisor Dana Amoroso at Lord & Taylor in Garden City, Snider, 79, walked out with a new oufit she can't wait to show off to her husband Bob.

"I'll really feel like a Valentine," Snider said of her new look, a black pleated "Pippy" skirt by T Tahari, a festive pink Eight Eight Eight sweater and black stockings. "It's not something I would have bought for myself, and I'm very happy with it. It's fun."

Snider, an art instructor who lives in Massapequa, says her husband always tells her she looks like a teacher. "I'm not sure if that's positive or negative, but I definitely didn't want an outfit that made me look like a teacher this time, and this one definitely doesn't!" she said.

Thanks to Lord & Taylor's 15 percent off coupons (valid through Tuesday), we were able to stay below our $150 budget for the entire outfit. Snider will unveil her new look on Feb. 14 after she has her hair and makeup done by the staff at Salon Blue in Mineola. Stay tuned for a video as we document the transformation and delve into the couple's 58 year love story.
