Tonight's finale of “The Voice” is going to be a little anti-climactic, isn't it?
Of course, last year's results ended up being quite a surprise when Jermaine Paul, who placed fourth on the iTunes sales chart, ended up winning the show. However, one of the many rules changes on this season weighs the sales of songs differently, offering a massive bonus if a contestant has a song finish in...Read more »
It's weird how “The Voice” gets almost anticlimactic the closer it gets to its finale. With only four singers left, the show shrank to one hour for performance night for the first time this season and even that felt a little bloated. Shouldn't the Final Four get to sing more than one song to see who makes it to the finals? Or is this Howie Mandel game show really...Read more »
We have officially reached crunchtime on “The Voice.”
With this Top 6, America has no more easy choices on who to send home. There are only strong performers left.
Unfortunately, that may mean that the best performers – not the best artists – may move ahead this week. And that spells trouble for the teens – Queens' Trevin Hunte and Baldwin's Melanie Martinez.
Both did remarkably...Read more »
Trevin sweated, Nicholas rocked back and forth, and Melanie and Amanda embraced in the dramatic moments before Carson Daly announced which singers would be "saved by America" during last night's "The Voice." Unfortunately, those moments took up just a few minutes of the show, and the rest of the hour was packed with filler -- bland updates from the tweet room, boring group performances,...Read more »
"The Voice" can cram a lot into two hours, and that's not counting the 36 minutes of commercials. In addition to the finalist showcases, last night's "Top 8 Perform Live" episode had 50 Cent doing his new single "My Life" (featuring judge Adam Levine), two group sing-alongs (Journey? Seriously?) and Christina Aguilera in leopard-print arm-warmers, silver rings, giant...Read more »
Two down ... eight remain. Last night on “The Voice” live results show, Bryan Keith and Sylvia Yacoub were sent packing. Poor Sylvia, who did a very shaky version of Alicia Key’s “Girl on Fire,” even suffered one last indignity near the end when they were down to the final three performers with only one save left. When host Carson Daly called her name to ask one of his boneheaded questions, Sylvia...Read more »
This week on “The Voice,” there were several stellar performances from the singers, with a few of them taking riskier chances with song choices – all with varying degrees of success. Baldwin’s Melanie Martinez took a chance with her cover of the White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.” By tweaking the arrangement, she found a way to make the song uniquely her own. “That was uber-cool. That’s one of the...Read more »
At long last, “The Voice” has reached the finals, where the voters get to make the decisions and, usually, the biggest surprises begin.
However, after the Top 12 took the stage, the only surprise would be if Queens' Trevin Hunte was sent home, as the rest of the finalists turned in a mix of performances ranging from good to flawed. Actually, even Hunte's version of “When a Man Loves a Woman”...Read more »
Baldwin's Melanie Martinez advanced on “The Voice” and Bay Shore's rapping brothers Jemelle and Julien Joseph of Lyric 145 advanced on “X Factor” last night, though not as decisively as they might have hoped.
Martinez, who had long been a fan favorite on “The Voice” this season with strong sales of her performances on iTunes, was not among the top two vote-getters on Team Adam with her performance...Read more »
The second half of “The Voice” playoffs was actually even better than the first, as Christina Aguilera and Ceelo Green's more performance-oriented teams took the stage. The difference was evident from the beginning, as both teams joined together to take on My Chemical Romance's “Sing.” Because Team Ceelo is all guys and Team Christina is nearly all girls (aside...Read more »
