When Selina Sears steps out of her house, she usually hides behind a headwrap and big sunglasses. Since being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in February 2012, Sears, 49, of Baldwin, has been undergoing treatments that have thinned her hair, discolored her skin and shaken her self-confidence.

Kevon Thompson wasn’t the fastest at putting on a seat belt, but he says he'll never forget to buckle up after racing his classmates during a “Battle of the Belts” contest at his school.

The Huntington Town Board has voted unanimously to extend until December a moratorium on issuing permits regarding wind turbines.
