Clinton's weekend stay at $9.4M home of financier
WASHINGTON - It turns out Hillary Rodham Clinton isn't checking into the Hotel Spielberg for her weekend Hamptons fundraising blitz after all.
The former first lady, a houseguest at Steven Spielberg's Georgica Pond estate during recent trips out east, is reportedly staying at the $9.4 million East Hampton house of Manhattan financier Terry Meehan.
Meehan, 58, is a longtime Clinton backer, but won't be there to greet the former first couple: He's out of town and is lending the 6.4-acre spread, according to a source familiar with the plans.
Meehan, a former New York Stock Exchange governor, attended Georgetown University with former president Bill Clinton.
After a dinner at the East Hampton home of Democratic power couple Ira Statfeld and Michael Recanati on Friday night, Sen. Clinton is set to attend a 1 p.m. Saturday brunch at the Sag Harbor home of longtime family friend Lisa Perry. From there, it's on to decorator Tony Ingrao's East Hampton house for a garden party.
Bill Clinton is expected to join the senator for a "small dinner" Saturday night with 80 or 90 friends at the East Hampton estate of William Nuti, chief executive of bar-code manufacturing company NCR. Jon Bon Jovi will perform on Nuti's lawn at about 9 p.m., preceded by a $1,000-a-head cocktail party with the Clintons.
On Sunday, Sen. Clinton will have brunch at the Westhampton Beach home of hedge fund multimillionaire Jacob Doft.
