Suffolk Officer Michael Synnott
DECEMBER 2007
The Second Precinct has selected Police Officer Michael Synnott its "Cop of the Month" for his initiative and perseverance, which resulted in the arrest of a violent criminal.
In June 2007, Officer Synnott was in the South Huntington area when he was alerted to a robbery. He was given a suspect and vehicle description. For three weeks he performed surveillance in the vicinity of Pigeon Hill Road in South Huntington. On July 10, Officer Synnott conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the robbery. The information collected during this stop enabled Second Squad detectives to make an arrest in the case.
Officer Synnott has been with the department since February 1989 and has received two Department Recognitions and a Letter of Appreciation.
