Duda will start at first base against the Reds on Friday, a team insider confirmed, which pushes Ike Davis out of the picture for now. The two competed for the job during spring training, though both suffered injuries that limited their at-bats.

Even Thor himself may be sent to the bullpen to make occasional relief appearances.

As a means of limiting their innings, the Mets’ Triple-A starters may occasionally work as relievers while. And that group includes top pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard.

On Wednesday, general manager Sandy Alderson discussed the Mets’ young crop of pitchers and how they may ultimately help the team...

The record after their first two games was historically bad. The record following the third won't bode well for a successful season either.

After falling to the Nationals on Wednesday, it wouldn't have been much of a stretch to say the Mets were off to their worst start since 1965.

Daniel Murphy will return to the Mets lineup on Thursday, presumably bringing a measure of comfort and relief to those who have have made it their business to criticize the second baseman for tending to a private matter such as the birth of a child.

Of course, it wasn’t the comfort or relief of those folks that Murphy was considering when he exercised his collectively bargained right to go...

Outs are outs. And strikeouts are just another kind of out.Yes, making contact leads to productive outs, moving runners over, sac flies, all that good stuff. But contact also creates the possibility of hitting into rally-killing double plays. Anyway, the point is, a whole bunch of strikeouts on their own aren’t necessarily something to freak out about. This is particularly true for teams such as...

Building a bullpen isn’t easy. But few make it look harder than the Mets. Not once during Sandy Alderson’s tenure as general manager with the Mets has he pieced together anything close to an adequate bullpen. And as the Mets begin their fourth season...

Sabathia, who has started every Opening Day for the Yankees since joining the team in 2009, has historically done poorly in the season opener. Here's how he's fared...
