About Cooperstown

Cooperstown is the county seat of Otsego County, New York, and best known as the home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The population was 2,032 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Otsego CountyGR6. Cooperstown was named after and founded by Judge William Cooper, the father of author James Fenimore Cooper.
