About Rickey Henderson

Rickey Henley Henderson (born Rickey Nelson Henley, December 25, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois) is a Hall of Fame left fielder in Major League Baseball who played for nine teams from 1979 to 2003, including four stints with his first team, the Oakland Athletics. Widely regarded as the sport's greatest leadoff hitter and baserunner, he holds major league records for career stolen bases, runs scored, and leadoff home runs. At the time of his last major league game in 2003, the 10-time AL All-Star ranked among the sport's top 100 all-time home run hitters; he was also the all-time leader in walks, a record since surpassed by Barry Bonds. Henderson will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on July 26, 2009.
