Anti-Fujimori demonstrators beat a pro-Fujimori demonstrator in downtown Lima on April 21, 1992 as clashes broke out between supporters and detractors of President Alberto Fujimori's military-backed coup in front of the Sheraton Hotel where an Organization of the American States (OAS) mission met with leaders of Congress, the judiciary and the business community. President Alberto Fujimori announced on April 05, 1992 the dissolution of the Congress and the suspension of the Constitution and put key opposition leaders under house arrest.
