Husband-and-wife duo Dale Drueckhammer and Roxanne Brockner, of Mount Sinai, have been named Masters Male and Female Athletes of the Year for the second time by USA Track & Field Long Island after first winning the award in 2019. Drueckhammer is a professor in the Department of Chemistry at Stony Brook University and Brockner is assistant to the director of Stony Brook’s Institute of Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery. Drueckhammer has been ranked in the Top 10 in the United States in his age group in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters; Brockner won three national titles, in the 60, 200 and 400 meters, at the 2023 USA Track & Field Nationals in Kentucky.
Michael R. Ebert is an education researcher and has worked for Newsday in various capacities since 2003. He was part of an 11-person team named as 2008 Pulitzer Prize finalists for investigative coverage of the LIRR's platform safety issues.
