Man struck, killed by LIRR train near Mastic-Shirley station; Montauk Branch resumes service
An unidentified man was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train just before 7 p.m. on Saturday near the Mastic-Shirley station, causing a temporary suspension in service, according to the MTA.
The man was hit by the 5:19 p.m. train traveling from Montauk to Jamaica, the MTA said.
He was struck about 100 feet west of the Mastic Road railroad crossing at 6:51 p.m. and pronounced dead at 6:59 p.m., according to spokesman Aaron Donovan. His identification is pending until his family is notified.
Service on the Montauk Branch resumed at 921 p.m. with residual delays.
