Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo will campaign with Rep. Tim Bishop (D-Southampton) Friday in Hauppauge.

The governor said in a radio interview Thursday he’ll begin making campaign appearances with four Democrats locked in tough congressional battles around the state. Along with Bishop, Cuomo will also campaign with Rep. Kathy Hochul (D-Hamburg) in the Buffalo area, Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-Rochester), and Dan Maffei, who is running for a Syracuse-based seat.

The Cuomo-Bishop event is expected to go off at 3 p.m. Friday; further details have yet to be determined. Bishop is battling Republican Randy Altschuler in one of the most-watched congressional battles in the country.

Eight congressional seats in New York are considered “in play” by both Republicans and Democrats as the parties vie for control of the House of Representatives.
