Suffolk Legislature starts 'open access' site
The Suffolk Legislature has launched a new website that officials call “the most transparent look at Suffolk County government ever offered.” It makes available data that includes contract awards, budgets, legislators’ initiatives and a link to candidates’ political contributions.
The site, openaccess.suffolkcountyny.gov, was created in-house by the county’s information technology department, officials said, adding that the idea was rooted in the state version, Project Sunlight.
Former Legis. Brian Beedenbender had sponsored the measure ordering a study that led to the new site.
