On the day they suffered their third rainout in a week, the Mets agreed to terms with veteran righthander Julio Teheran on a one-year contract, a source confirmed to Newsday.

Teheran, 33, has an 81-82 career record with a 3.83 ERA in 254 outings, most of them with Atlanta. In 2023, he went 3-5, 4.40 ERA in 14 outings (11 starts) for Milwaukee.

Teheran made five appearances for Baltimore in spring training, last pitching on March 23, but did not make the team despite a 3.38 ERA. According to MLB.com, Teheran’s Mets contract is for a guaranteed $2.5 million plus $450,000 in performance bonuses.

The Mets need starters because ace Kodai Senga and his rotation replacement Tylor Megill are both on the injured list with shoulder issues.

Starting Thursday, the Mets will play 15 games in 14 days, including a four-game series in Atlanta starting Monday. That’s when Teheran could make his Mets debut since the club doesn’t have a starter lined up for that day.

The Mets announced a little after 1 p.m. on Wednesday that the scheduled 7:10 p.m. game against the Tigers would be postponed because of rain.

Wednesday’s game and Tuesday’s — which was rained out, but only after a two-hour wait — will be made up as a single-admission doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 12:10 p.m. at Citi Field.

Adrian Houser will make his Mets debut in the opener. The Mets have not announced a Game 2 starter, but Jose Butto, who had an excellent spring training but was beaten out by Megill for Senga’s spot, is eligible to be called up as the 27th man for the doubleheader and will likely make the start.

Only tickets for Tuesday’s rainout will be honored for Thursday’s doubleheader.

The Mets’ season opener on March 28 was also postponed by rain and moved to Friday.
