Catherine Anne Kupinski hit a go-ahead two-run single in the top of the seventh inning, driving in Alyssa Costello and Madelyn Stepski, to give the Stony Brook softball team a 4-3 conference road win over Hofstra on Saturday. Corinne Badger had a two-run homer for Stony Brook (23-13). Alanna Morse had an RBI double for Hofstra (13-20).

Villanova 10, St. John’s 1: Elanna Lysiak had two singles and a walk for St. John’s (21-20) in a five-inning conference road loss. Maeve Marra went 1-for-1 with a single and an RBI walk.

BASEBALL

LIU 3, Fairleigh Dickinson 2: Jack Power went 2-for-4 and hit the go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth to lead LIU (14-16) to a conference home win. Dominic Pieto struck out five and allowed one earned run in six innings. Jack VanDoran retired the side in order in the ninth inning to earn the save.

St. John’s 15, UConn 7: Garrett Scavelli went 2-for-4 with two homers, four RBIs, three runs scored and a walk for St. John’s (23-6-1) in a road conference win. Luke Orbon hit a three-run homer and Jimmy Keenan hit a two-run homer. Sam Mettert allowed three hits and two earned runs in a four-inning save.

MEN’S LACROSSE

Adelphi 14, Franklin Pierce 2: Eamon Hall scored three goals to lead Adelphi (10-2) to a conference home win. Logan Tucker had three assists. Kyle Lewis, Brian Harinski, Kyle Steinbach and Braden Donnellan each scored two goals.

Drexel 13, Hofstra 12: John Madsen had four goals and an assist for Hofstra (4-8) in a conference home loss. Colton Rudd had a goal and three assists. Hofstra scored four unanswered to tie it at 12 before Jack Joyner scored the winning goal with 7:34 left for Drexel (5-7).

Delaware 16, Stony Brook 12: Dylan Pallonetti had three goals and an assist for Stony Brook (4-8) in a conference road loss. Jack Dougherty had three goals and Nick Dupuis had five assists.

Villanova 14, St. John’s 9: Jake Wright had three goals for St. John’s (4-9) in a conference home loss. Bobby Seel had two goals and two assists.

Roberts Wesleyan 17, Molloy 16: Chris Delaney had four goals for Molloy (6-8) in a conference home loss. Brian Green had three goals and an assist and Tommy Corcoron had three goals. Preston Steve scored the winning goal with 4:28 left for Roberts Wesleyan (8-5).

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

LIU 7, Merrimack 6: Ava Taylor scored the winning goal with 22 seconds left to lead LIU (7-7) to a home conference win and its sixth consecutive win.

Rachel Weber had two goals, Mylie Norton made eight saves and Julia Trainor had a goal and two assists.

New Haven 11, Molloy 9: Megan Rugolo had three goals and an assist for visiting Molloy (6-7). Joanna Mauceri scored three goals.
