Agency reports 200 new jobs for disabled on LI

New York State Industries for the Disabled Inc. created jobs for more than 200 disabled Long Island workers last year, the organization said in its annual report, released Tuesday.
Among the workers are those employed by American Maintenance, of Babylon, which provides building and janitorial services for SUNY Westbury, Stony Brook University and Brookhaven Town Hall.

“The impact of the jobs created by NYSID and its partners for people with disabilities can been seen across Long Island,” said chief executive Ron Romano.
“The jobs crisis in Long Island and across the state has been especially acute for people with disabilities," he said in a Tuesday news release.
Established in 1975, the Albany-based nonprofit agency works statewide to create jobs with the cooperation of businesses, governments and community rehabilitation agencies.
