Stony Brook University will host a workshop on public equity crowdfunding for small private businesses Wednesday morning.

Crowdfunding, part of Title II of the JOBS Act, enables early stage private companies to publicly advertise the fact they are raising investments.

A panel of professionals will speak about the status of Title II's implementation and its further ramifications, including the potential tax, legal and fiscal implications for private businesses.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stony Brook's research and development campus. The workshop is free to the public.
