The connectivity and computer chip maker SMSC, of Hauppauge, has been chosen to supply the Mercedes-Benz SLK- and CLS-Class models with its media delivery system, known as Most for Media Oriented Systems Transport.

SMSC says this system is "the de facto standard for high bandwidth infotainment networking in the car."

It describes the Most system, as supplied for these Mercedes models, "as the backbone of the infotainment system." With this contract, SMSC now equips more than 100 car models with its Most technology.

Christian Thiel, vice president and general manager of SMSC's automotive information systems group, said, "We are pleased that Most has been selected again by Daimler for its line of high-performance Mercedes-Benz SLK- and CLS-Classes, which are flagships of their global fleet."
