Rich Cribs: Lloyd Harbor's Kenjockety, and more

CLOSING SOON. Kenjockety, the 6.7-acre Lloyd Harbor estate once owned by Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees, is in contract. The Tudor home first went up for sale in 2002 for $17.5 million. Its current asking price with listing agent Suzanne Wehren of Shawn Elliott Luxury Homes & Estates, who only got the listing in January, is $8.999 million. (She raised the price by about $500,000 from its previous listing with Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty.) The selling agent is Maria Siringo, also with Shawn Elliott.

Gibb owned the historic 1926 mansion in the early 1980s, when he reportedly bleached the floors and painted the walls white. It has since been completely renovated. There are seven bedrooms, seven baths, three half-baths, 10 fireplaces, a gunite pool and 500 feet of water frontage with deeded docking rights. The original architect was Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, who designed St. Bartholomew's Church on Park Avenue in Manhattan.

ALSO SOLD. The Old Brookville estate that belonged to the late literary agent Ralph Vicinanza has recently sold for $5.7 million, according to the Long Island Real Estate Report. One parcel was purchased for $4.7 million by John Idol, chief executive of Michael Kors; a second piece of property on the same street sold the same day to wife, Annalia, for $1 million.

The main house, which is brick with a tile roof, was built in 1927 but refurbished. There is a heated gunite pool, a six-car garage and a cottage on the 9.5-acre property. Vicinanza, who died suddenly in September, worked with such authors as Stephen King, Norman Mailer and Carl Sagan.

The house was designed by Phillip Goodwin, who designed the Museum of Modern Art, according to the listing. It  and another nearby house were built by President William Howard Taft for his son and his nephew, says Vera Wiedenhaefer of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty, the listing agent. Then, the property was part of a larger family compound, she says. Newspaper articles show that the 27th president would visit the property.

NEW TO MARKET. Another Meadow Lane oceanfront estate in Southampton has just hit the market with a price tag of $24.5 million. Built in 1978, the 4,000-square-foot contemporary style home designed by noted American architect Ward Bennett, has six bedrooms, five bathrooms, three fireplaces and even its own game room and library. The home is on two ocean front acres with views of Shinnecock Bay and comes with a gunite pool and an all-weather tennis court.
