Abigail Breslin will star in a three-hour musical remake of the 1987 romantic drama “Dirty Dancing.”
Entertainment Weekly said Tuesday that ABC had given formal approval for the TV special, which unlike recent television musicals will not be broadcast live.
Breslin, 19, who starred in “Little Miss Sunshine” and most recently in the Fox horror-comedy series “Scream Queens,” will play Baby, the affluent 1960s teen vacationing with her family in the Catskill Mountains who falls in love with a working-class dance instructor.
Wayne Blair will direct and Andy Blankenbuehler (Broadway’s “Hamilton”) is the choreographer.
