Nursing moms are welcome at a free breast-feeding class on the first Thursday of every month at Buy Buy Baby in Huntington Station .
“It’s a super-duper casual, whatever someone needs it to be type of class,” says Stacey Wallenstein, coordinator for the Mid-Island Y JCC Parenting Center, which spearheads the gathering.

“It’s a super-duper casual, whatever someone needs it to be type of class,” says Stacey Wallenstein, coordinator for the Mid-Island Y JCC Parenting Center, which spearheads the gathering.
It’s an open forum for anyone who has any questions about anything, or just wants to get out of the house with baby, Wallenstein says. “We want this to be as kumbaya as humanly possible, and we just want to be there to help people.” A lactation consultant will be present.
Parents can bring toddlers as well as babies, but they should also bring something to keep the older children entertained, because the class meets upstairs at Buy Buy Baby and the space is small and intimate, Wallenstein says. Class runs from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Wallenstein requests that moms RSVP to her at swallenstein@miyjcc.org so that she has enough chairs set up. After Thursday, the next classes are on Nov. 1 and Dec. 6. Buy Buy Baby is at 350 Walt Whitman Rd., Huntington Station.
