Weekly country night kicks off at the Nutty Irishman

For country music fans, Long Island isn't exactly awash with nightlife opportunities (with Matty T's Roadhouse in Deer Park being the only full-time honky-tonk spot in recent memory) -- but all of a sudden, the sound and the style that is so popular elsewhere in the USA will be the focus of a big bash right here in our backyard.
Starting Wednesday, March 2, the Nutty Irishman in Bay Shore is taking a break from its usual young bar-hopping, dance/rock/pop scene to do a weekly country night.

Starting Wednesday, March 2, the Nutty Irishman in Bay Shore is taking a break from its usual young bar-hopping, dance/rock/pop scene to do a weekly country night.
It will be a full experience, too, as Nutty has joined forces with Bohemia's Go West western wear store, decorating the walls in cowboy flair, straw and everything else rodeo to help get the feel right. There will be a special menu offering barbecue and Southern fried eats, and the new country radio station, "My Country" 96.1-FM, will broadcast live from 7-10 p.m.
Everything gets going at 7 p.m. with line dancing until 9 p.m., when bands will take the stage -- mixing it up with the resident DJ in playing country music all night long.
Admission is $8 (bring the party flyer, available on the website, for $3 off) for a 21-and-over crowd. If you're one of the many who has a pair of scootin' boots thrown deep into the back of your closet while thinking your "achy-breaky" dance days were over, here's a good reason to dig them out and get stomping again.
