The owner of Danfords, Port Jefferson’s harborside landmark, is opening a new restaurant and catering house at the former site of the waterview Lombardi’s on the Sound.

The new restaurant will be called The Cliffside. The catering wing is in The Waterview at Port Jefferson Country Club. The two are slated to open in April.

Lombardi’s on the Sound, the north shore offspring of Mamma Lombardi’s in Holbrook and Lombardi’s on the Bay in Patchogue, specialized in southern Italian specialties at the country club location for 15 years.

Details about the cuisine and prices at The Cliffside were not immediately available.

But diners can expect both indoor and outdoor seating plus live music at the 44 Fairway Dr. perch, which overlooks Long Island Sound. The ballroom at the catering facility seats 400. Two other rooms can accommodate 150 each.

The Crest Group, based in Port Jefferson Station, owns Danfords. The group acquired Thatched Cottage, the legally and financially upended Centerport caterer, in 2016. After a major overhaul, the East Main Street address is expected to open as The Centerport Mansion within a year.
