The theft of 10 catalytic converters, worth about $5,000, from 10 school buses in Ronkonkoma in mid-June prompted Suffolk police and Crime Stoppers to announce Friday a cash reward for up to the same amount to anyone who can help detectives arrest the thief.

The buses were parked at Suffolk Transportation on Pond Road when the catalytic converters were stolen between about 2 p.m. on June 11 and around 6 a.m. on June 13, police said.
