A Hampton Bays man has been arrested in an October burglary during which police said he wore a mask, ransacked a residence and stole a laptop computer, police said.

Southampton Town police said Tuesday that Victor Alamo, 20, was arrested on March 10 and arraigned after being charged with second-degree burglary. He was released on his own recognizance and faces trial at a later date.

Police said the burglary occurred at a residence on Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays at about 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 12. The victim had left the home for about two hours, police said, returning to find a masked man in the residence — a man police later identified as Alamo. Police said the victim asked Alamo what he was doing and he said he was looking for a neighbor whom he identified by name.

Alamo then fled, police said. But, police said, as he fled he removed the mask — an act seen by witnesses.
