Additional Suffolk Police will patrol Walt Whitman High School in South Huntington on Tuesday after a threat on social media to students and the school, officials said.
Police said a juvenile they believe lives in England made the threats of violence Monday on the social media app, Snapchat.

South Huntington schools superintendent Vito D’Elia said the district reported the threat to police in an attempt to track and identify the source.
“While police deemed the threat as not credible, I wanted to reach out and let our school community know that all instances like this are taken very seriously,” D’Elia said. “Out of an abundance of caution, Suffolk County Police will be providing a greater presence around Walt Whitman High School.”
Police did not release additional details about the alleged threat but said the investigation is ongoing.
