Daphne King of Nesconset has received the 22nd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award from the Suffolk County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission. King is the assistant principal of Central Islip High School and was instrumental in implementing celebrations for Hispanic Heritage Month at the high school and Ralph G. Reed Middle School. She has also served as a class activities adviser and has worked extensively in giving direction to students for postsecondary education placement through programs with Syracuse University and Dowling College.
