It’s good to be the king!

With a week to go before voters in Nassau’s 9th Senate District cast ballots in a special election, comedy legend Mel Brooks has released a robocall on behalf of his nephew, Democratic candidate Assemb. Todd Kaminsky.

In the 45-second automated call, Brooks calls Kaminsky (D-Long Beach) “not only a great-nephew but a great human being. I am telling you that if you vote for him you will get a truly terrific public servant who will put his heart and soul into representing you.”

And in Brooks’ classic style, the film legend, whose credits include “Blazing Saddles,” “Spaceballs” and “The Producers,” tells residents to write down the date of the April 19 election because “you’re liable to forget.”

In 2014, the little-known Kaminsky drew the spotlight when Brooks’ did a robocall to boost his Assembly campaign.

Kaminsky faces Republican Christopher McGrath in the race for the 9th Senate District, which had been represented by former Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Centre). Skelos held the seat for 20 years until he was convicted of corruption in December. Skelos and his son, Adam, who was also convicted, are appealing.
