The Long Island Rail Road said regular Hempstead Branch service between Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica station was restored Thursday afternoon after a broken rail was repaired.

The LIRR had been operating on one of two tracks between Jamaica and Atlantic because of the broken rail near East New York.

The Long Island Rail Road said regular Hempstead Branch service between Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica station was restored Thursday afternoon after a broken rail was repaired.

The LIRR had been operating on one of two tracks between Jamaica and Atlantic because of the broken rail near East New York.

The service disruption was posted on the railroad’s website at 10:24 a.m. The service restoration was announced at 1:03 p.m.

Shortly after 10 a.m., the railroad said it had resumed normal service to Atlantic Terminal after signal trouble had caused delays of up to 20 minutes. Those delays were first reported at 9:15 a.m.
