As Hurricane Sandy headed closer to New York City, officials warned residents to stay indoors

"The worst is still coming," Gov. Andrew Cuomo warned during a news conference Monday morning. "You do not need to be going to the beach to take pictures."

At least one person had been injured as of Monday morning, fire officials said.

An unidentified person was struck by a falling tree at 206 Freeman Street in Brooklyn, according to an FDNY spokesman, and rushed to Bellevue Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman did not know the extent of the person's injuries.

Another tree slammed into a home in Bay Ridge, according to the Daily News.
