An EMT accused of ignoring a pregnant woman who died after having an asthma attack at a cafe last year was shot dead Sunday morning near an exclusive Manhattan nightclub.

Jason Green, 32, of Long Island City, was shot in the face about 5 a.m. at the corner of VanDam and Hudson streets, near SoHo's Greenhouse club, the NYPD said. The FDNY EMT was off-duty at the time.

Green was pronounced dead at New York Downtown Hospital, police said.

On Dec. 9, Green and another EMT, Melisa Jackson, made headlines after witnesses said they ignored Eutisha Rennix, 25, an Au Bon Pain cashier, while she was having an asthma attack in the store. When they were asked to help, the two off-duty EMTs reportedly told Rennix's co-workers to call 911, and left the cafe.

Jackson later said she called for help.

Rennix, the mother of a 3-year-old-boy, was six months pregnant. She and her premature baby died hours later.

Green and Jackson, 23, enraged many New Yorkers for what was perceived as callous behavior, poor judgment and neglect of duty. They were suspended for 30 days. The Brooklyn district attorney's office and the FDNY are still investigating the case.

In January, Green told The New York Times the accusations were "lies and fabrications."

Cynthia Rennix, Eutisha's mother, isn't reveling in Green's death, her lawyer said.

"This is an unrelated incident that has nothing to do with our tragedy," said Scott Rynecki, adding that Cynthia Rennix "knows what it's like to lose a child."
