Jets defensive lineman Kenrick Ellis will not be missing too much action during this month's training camp thanks to a plea deal he worked out with Virginia prosecutors.

The 24-year-old was given a 45-day jail sentence Monday for misdemeanor assault and battery charges.

Two years ago, Ellis was arrested after he got into a fight with a man while he was attending Hampton University.

He took a plea deal last week that reduced the charges from a malicious wounding felony.

Along with the jail time, Ellis will have two years of probation and will not be deported to his native Jamaica.

Ellis will start his sentence on June 15, a day after the Jets' mandatory minicamp, according to published reports.

He is expected to miss a few days of the team's training camp that opens July 26, published reports said.
