Metro-North railroad says ticket machines are working again at most stations after a malfunction made them unable to accept credit cards.

The railroad that serves New York City and its northern suburbs says it expects to have the remainder of the machines fixed by noon.

Authorities had initially expected repairs to last through the weekend, but the work was performed much more quickly than expected.

Metro-North is operating on a Sunday schedule for New Year’s Day on Saturday.
