Two polls released Thursday show Eliot Spitzer leading Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer in the city comptroller race, although the former governor’s lead varies in both surveys.

A NBC 4/Wall Street Journal/Marist College poll conducted Wednesday has Spitzer leading 49% to 32% among registered Democrats. But a Quinnipiac University poll of Democratic likely voters conducted between July 18-23 showed that race was tighter as Spitzer led 49% to 45%.

“Both candidates’ supporters seemed to be fairly well locked in,” Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac poll, said in a statement.
