Edgardo Alfonzo will be among six former Mets from the 2000 Subway World Series team who will visit Citi Field before tonight's game against the Yankees - but he's the only one who has yet to retire.

Alfonzo, 36, is a member of the Atlantic League's Newark Bears and hopes to catch on with a major-league team again at some point.

"I feel pretty good," Alfonzo said. "I'll try to get back and see what happens. I told my wife maybe in a couple more years, when I'm 38, I'll retire. But if there's any teams out there that believe I can help them, I'll be ready."

Alfonzo last played in the majors in 2006, with the Toronto Blue Jays, and played for the Long Island Ducks in 2007-08 and the Yomiuri Giants last season.

As for this year, Alfonzo is keeping his options open. When asked what position he'll be playing for the Bears, he replied: "Third, second, shortstop and first."

Friday, Alfonzo will be joined by Benny Agbayani, John Franco, Mike Hampton, Rick Reed and Turk Wendell as part of the Mets Alumni Association presented by Citi.
