White Sox get best of Rays' Price

Freddy Garcia outpitched David Price and Alex Rios hit a two-run homer to lift visiting Chicago past Tampa Bay, 4-2, Friday night. The Rays have lost four of five.

Garcia (4-3) went seven innings to win for the fourth time in his last five starts and improved to 8-2 in his career against Tampa Bay. Price (7-2) went seven innings; his only other loss also came against the White Sox.

In other White Sox news, manager Ozzie Guillen, pitcher Mark Buehrle and umpire Joe West were fined undisclosed amounts by MLB for their balk flap on Wednesday. There were no suspensions.

Blue Jays 5, Orioles 0

Aaron Hill and Vernon Wells hit solo home runs, and Shaun Marcum (5-1) went six innings to win his fourth straight start for host Toronto.

Athletics 5, Tigers 4

Miguel Cabrera's first three-homer game of his career was not enough for host Detroit. Oakland's Landon Powell hit his first home run of the season and had a sacrifice fly in the ninth that proved to be the game-winning run.

Cardinals 7, Cubs 1

Ryan Ludwick homered, Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina each drove in two runs, and Chris Carpenter (6-1) pitched into the seventh inning as visiting St. Louis rolled. St. Louis knocked Cubs starter Randy Wells (3-3) from the game after only 16 pitches.

Ellsbury back on DL

The Red Sox have put Jacoby Ellsbury back on the 15-day disabled list after the outfielder complained of more soreness in his ribs. Ellsbury missed six weeks due to hairline fractures in his ribs, and played only three games before experiencing more pain. - AP
