Nets to be without Seth Curry, Goran Dragic Wednesday night vs. Grizzlies

The Nets got Kyrie Irving back just in time to potentially lose two more players.
Irving, who’s able to play in road games, will be available when the Nets go to Memphis Wednesday, but they may be without both Seth Curry and Goran Dragić, the team announced Tuesday.

Irving, who’s able to play in road games, will be available when the Nets go to Memphis Wednesday, but they may be without both Seth Curry and Goran Dragić, the team announced Tuesday.
Dragić was listed as doubtful with left knee soreness. He played in their win against the Jazz Monday but was listed as questionable with the same injury going into the game. He played 32 minutes, scoring seven points with seven assists. Curry left Monday’s game in the second quarter after tripping and spraining his left ankle and is listed as questionable.
LaMarcus Aldridge (right hip impingement) is also out. Andre Drummond, who missed Monday’s game with a non-COVID illness, was not listed on the injury report.
Curry’s injury is of note because it’s the same ankle that he said has been giving him trouble since January. He missed three games because of it earlier in the month and said upon his return that it’s an injury that he’d simply have to manage for the rest of the season. Curry played 38 minutes when he came back from the injury on March 18, and Steve Nash it was more than he had wanted him to play, but that he did so out of necessity.
Nash said after the game Monday that the sprain was different than the injury that’s been nagging Curry, despite the similar location.
“I think we would be concerned,” given it’s the same ankle, Nash said. “Speaking to him at halftime, it didn’t sound like he thought it was doom and gloom. Hopefully, it’s a quick recovery but you never know how these things respond if they balloon up over night or how he feels but it was different to the previous one. Same ankle but different, so I think he feels optimistic that it’s not too bad.”
Curry, who joined the team in February as part of the James Harden trade, has been an integral part of the supporting cast that has kept the Nets afloat despite injury and adversity. He’s averaging 15.5 points and shooting 47.7% from three in 13 games with the Nets – a pivotal piece in helping take the attention off Kevin Durant, who’s been routinely double- and triple-teamed, especially in games Irving cannot play.
