It turns out Roy Jones Jr. isn't ready to hang it up after all.

Jones confirmed to ESPN.com Tuesday that he will return to the ring against Danny Santiago on October 7 at the Pensacola Civic Center.

Despite dropping his last two fights -by knockout to Danny Green in December and a one-sided decision to Bernard Hopkins in April- Jones doesn't want to quit.

"What are you gonna do? You gonna box or sit around? I've been sitting around and I wasn't enjoying it," Jones, 41, told ESPN's Dan Rafael.

After watching Jones' manhandling at the hands of Hopkins, it was assumed he would retire. "It never crossed my mind, to be honest," Jones said of his mind set after the loss to Hopkins.
