The Jets are doing their due diligence when it comes to draft-eligible quarterbacks.

A source confirmed to Newsday that the organization held a private workout with UCLA's Brett Hundley in March. That shouldn't come as a surprise considering their need for better quarterback play in 2015.

The Jets hold the sixth overall pick in the draft that begins April 30. For months, various mock drafts have linked them to Oregon's Marcus Mariota. But there's a good chance the Heisman Trophy winner and Jameis Winston of Florida State will be off the board within the first two picks. Hundley, meanwhile, is projected to go on Day 2 in the second or third rounds.

According to NFL.com, the Eagles and Bengals have also worked out the 6-3, 226-pound quarterback.

In March, NFL Network draft expert Mike Mayock rated Hundley as the fourth-best quarterback prospect in this year's class. But recently he dropped him down to fifth, behind Winston, Mariota, Baylor's Bryce Petty and Garrett Grayson of Colorado State.
