Newsday's Arthur Staple wrote an excellent column last night about the paltry attendance--a measly 8,025--for Jack Capuano's NHL head coaching debut last night.

One gruesome stat?

"That was only the second time since the 2004-05 lockout that an announced Coliseum crowd was less than half the building's capacity of 16,234; the last time was Dec. 19, when 7,842 were announced for a game with the Canadiens," Staple wrote.

Remember that game last December? Yup, you guessed it. That was the day that a blizzard swept through the region that dumped two feet of snow and threatened to cancel the game.

Yikes.
