Craig Carton’s alleged Ponzi scheme trial date set

The Manhattan federal court trial of sports-talk personality Craig Carton on charges that he scammed $4 million from investors through a ticket-resale Ponzi scheme has been scheduled for Oct. 29.
Although U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon had aimed for a September trial, she said at a pretrial hearing on Thursday that Jewish holidays and other commitments required a delay despite objections from Carton’s lawyer, who said he “very much wants a speedy trial.”

Although U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon had aimed for a September trial, she said at a pretrial hearing on Thursday that Jewish holidays and other commitments required a delay despite objections from Carton’s lawyer, who said he “very much wants a speedy trial.”
“They set the Jewish calendar 5,900 years ago,” she said. “There’s nothing I can do about that.”
Carton, 48, of Manhattan, resigned from his high-rated WFAN “Boomer and Carton” radio show with former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason after he was charged in September. He has pleaded not guilty.
