8 freed from stuck Merrick LIRR elevator
Eight Long Island Rail Road customers were held up Thursday morning even before they got on a train.
An elevator at the Merrick station got stuck en route to the platform at 7:34 a.m., MTA spokeswoman Margie Anders told Newsday.

An elevator at the Merrick station got stuck en route to the platform at 7:34 a.m., MTA spokeswoman Margie Anders told Newsday.
MTA police manually moved the elevator to a safe stop at about 8 a.m. so the trapped passengers could exit, she said.
Anders said no one was injured.
The elevator has been taken out of service and Anders said emergency repair crews are fixing it.
