Nassau County police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the water at North Hempstead Bar Beach in Port Washington Wednesday afternoon.

Homicide Squad detectives report they were called to the scene by a witness who called police after observing a white object floating in the water at 175 Roslyn West Shore Road at 3:10 p.m.

Nassau County police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the water at North Hempstead Bar Beach in Port Washington Wednesday afternoon.

Homicide Squad detectives report they were called to the scene by a witness who called police after observing a white object floating in the water at 175 Roslyn West Shore Road at 3:10 p.m. 

The body of the man, 54, was discovered and removed from the water by the Port Washington Fire Department. He was pronounced dead at 3:49 p.m. Police did not release the man's name.

Police said the white object was a 2023 BMW X3 SUV that was removed from the water by the Nassau County Emergency Service Unit.

The death has been classified as undetermined as the investigation continues.
