A knife-wielding man robbed a taxi driver and a passenger at a railroad crossing in New Cassel Sunday night and then sped away with the taxi, Nassau County police said.

Third Squad detectives said a 2001 white Ford taxi cab owned by Taxi Express in Westbury was stopped at the intersection of Urban Avenue and Railroad Avenue about 10:55 p.m. when a man armed with a knife entered the cab and robbed the driver and passenger.

After ordering both to get out of the cab, the armed bandit drove off and later abandoned the cab, police said. Neither the driver nor the passenger was injured.
