Cops: Man attacks girlfriend
A Mineola man was arrested after he shoved, slapped and struck his girlfriend with a branch, then followed her for about a mile, yelling at her and pulling her hair, as she walked screaming and crying into a police precinct, Nassau police said.
James Coraci, 24, of 214 Jefferson Ave., followed the 18-year-old woman into the Third Precinct building in Williston Park Saturday evening, police said, but when officers ordered him to stay where he was, he fled from the building.

Several officers chased Coraci, apprehended him outside the building, police said. He was charged with assault, possession of a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.
The argument between Coraci and the woman began while they were walking on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, near Roslyn Road about 6:30 p.m., police said. After shoving her to the ground, slapping her and pulling her hair, police said, Coraci broke a branch off a tree and hit her with it several times in the face and head, before she got up and started walking toward the precinct.
