Hempstead holds 5K this weekend
Officials are urging runners to turn out Saturday for the Village of Hempstead annual 5K Run/Walk, and everyone else is welcome to come for a variety of free medical services, including mammograms and blood pressure testing.
"As an avid runner and advocate of a healthy lifestyle, I am proud to run along with our residents in this great event that brings or community together to support a common cause," Village Mayor Wayne Hall said Tuesday at a news conference with Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano.

The race will begin in front of the NuHealth Clinic at 135 Main St. at 9 a.m., and the medical services will be available inside from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
