A Massapequa High School teacher faces a drug charge after she was found with heroin in her car during a traffic stop in Freeport, Nassau County police said.
Kerri A. Creegan, 33, of 145 Maple Ave., Rockville Centre, was driving on Babylon Turnpike in Freeport about 3 p.m. Wednesday when her car was stopped by police for having a defective taillight, police said. An investigation found Creegan had "a glassine bag containing heroin" and she was arrested without incident, police said.

Kerri A. Creegan, 33, of 145 Maple Ave., Rockville Centre, was driving on Babylon Turnpike in Freeport about 3 p.m. Wednesday when her car was stopped by police for having a defective taillight, police said. An investigation found Creegan had "a glassine bag containing heroin" and she was arrested without incident, police said.
She was charged with misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and given a desk appearance ticket for June 23 in court. She could not be reached for comment Thursday.
According to Massapequa School District records, Creegan is a ninth-grade social studies teacher at the district's Ames Campus.
In a statement released Thursday, school officials said: "The district received a call from the Nassau County Police Department late Wednesday regarding this arrest. As this is a personnel matter and an active investigation, we cannot comment further at this time. We will continue to cooperate with law enforcement in all aspects regarding this incident."
Thomas Fasano, assistant to Massapequa School Superintendent Lucille F. Iconis, said the district could not comment on Creegan's job status or employment record. School is still in session, with most students taking final exams this week, he said.
