Motorists should expect a pair of eastbound lane closures on the Long Island Expressway in North Hempstead Friday morning due to a road improvement project, the New York State Department of Transportation said.

The eastbound left and HOV lanes will be closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. between Exits 38 and 39 for resurfacing, officials said.

Two inches of asphalt will be replaced along a portion of the HOV lane, officials said.

Signs will alert motorists throughout the morning with additional information as cancellations and postponements could occur because of inclement weather, officials said.

Motorists are advised to drive carefully through the work zone, obey speed restrictions and obey the instructions of the flaggers.
